TERROIR AND VITICULTURE
The Altas Quintas vineyards are located in a very special terroir. They are located at an altitude of 600 metres, on a plateau that develops in a unique way, in the middle of the Serra de São Mamede. The altitude, the mesoclimate conditions in this area and the soils with medium production potential make this location so special. The vineyard is managed under an integrated protection programme. The Alicante Bouschet and Trincadeira grapes for this wine were harvested by hand from low yielding plots for 14kg boxes. They were quickly transported to the winery. The bunches and berries were sorted at the entrance to the winery. Obsessão is only released in vintages of Excellence.
VINIFICATION
Cold pre-fermentation maceration was carried out, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in French oak vats; this was followed by a 3-month post-fermentation maceration. All the wine was aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months.
Bottling was followed by ageing in the bottle.
ENOLOGY

TASTING NOTES / HARMONISATION
Intense garnet-coloured wine with soft nuances of evolution, complex and defined aromas where ripe red fruits and small forest berries predominate, with balsamic notes, some dark chocolate, spices and tobacco leaf. On the palate, it has ample and structured tannins, fine and very present, lively acidity and enormous freshness, which make the wine very gastronomic. The finish is remarkably balanced between the freshness of the altitude and the persistence that the polished quality tannins give it.
