CASTAS
Touriga Nacional (60%) and Alicante Bouschet (40%)
TERROIR AND VITICULTURE
The Altas Quintas vineyards are located in a very special terroir. They are located at an altitude of 600 metres, on a plateau that develops in a unique way, in the middle of the Serra de São Mamede. The altitude, the mesoclimate conditions in this area and the soils with medium production potential make this location so special.
The vineyard is managed within an integrated protection programme.
The Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet grapes for this wine were hand-picked from low-yielding plots into 14kg boxes during September. Transport was swift to the winery. The bunches and berries were sorted at the entrance to the winery.
VINIFICATION
After cold pre-fermentation maceration for 24 hours, fermentation took place at a controlled temperature in small 5 tonne mills, with treading and delestage.
The wine then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Bottling was followed by ageing in bottle before being released onto the market.
ENOLOGY
