TERROIR AND VITICULTURE<\/strong>
\nThe Altas Quintas vineyards are located in a very special terroir. They are located at an altitude of 600 metres, on a plateau that develops in a unique way, in the middle of the Serra de S\u00e3o Mamede. The altitude, the mesoclimate conditions in this area and the soils with medium production potential make this location so special. The vineyard is managed under an integrated protection programme. The Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet grapes for this wine were harvested by hand from low yielding plots into 14kg boxes during September. Transport to the winery was swift and there was a manual selection of bunches and berries at the entrance to the winery.<\/p>\n

VINIFICATION<\/strong>
\nCold pre-fermentation maceration was carried out for 48 hours, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature in small stainless steel presses with daily delestage. Fermentation was followed by a 90-day post-fermentation maceration. The blend aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, followed by bottle ageing.<\/p>\n

TASTING NOTES \/ HARMONISATION<\/strong>
\nAn intense ruby-coloured wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, hints of pumice stone and cigar smoke, with slight toasty notes from the oak. On the palate it has the typical freshness of the S.Mamede mountain range, with balanced and incisive acidity, tannins that are present but elegant and moderate, with a persistent, harmonious finish and some complexity.
\nIt can accompany complex baked dishes.<\/p>\n
